         This tree is rather common in the forests of Belize. The seeds are collected and sold commercially but the trees are not grown for commercial use. When you see Allspice on the spice shelf at the grocery store, remember that it was collected by hand in the wild forests of Central America.         

          The trees are about 40 feet tall, and the bark is brown with thin dry strips that easily peel away.
          The leaves (see below) have unique veins which help to identify it, and are very aromatic, making good tea. This is also a medicinal plant.
